Doesn't Summer feel like the ultimate time for fun fiction and can't-put-me-down thrillers? I just love getting lost in twisted tales and breezy books while lounging by the pool or on a picnic. The only hard part can be figuring out what books are worth spending your coveted summer afternoons on (I know, SUCH tough problems). I love searching online for new books to get inspiration, but I find recommendations from friends with similar tastes so much more useful -- which inspired me to curate a list for the summer in hopes that these books will offer you a dose of much-needed escapism too. These books are a mix of what I've read recently and what's next on my bookshelf, waiting for a perfect afternoon in the park to breeze through. Happy reading!
In the spirit of savoring the little things, I’ll be sharing a few things “worth noting” to me every other Friday. I love sharing a great book, show, product or even just a memorable moment from the week. "The little things? The little moments? They aren't little." - Jon Kabat Zinn.
Somehow it's already June?? That's kind of crazy to me, but time seems to fly when the weather is nice and you just don't want the long, sunny days to end. The last couple weekends have been filled with fun trips to Napa and Seattle and this weekend I'm headed to Austin, Texas for the very first time! I've heard nothing but amazing things, so I'm extra excited to explore the food scene and all those things that keep Austin weird. Oh, and I'll be there during my birthday, too! :)
It feels like I've spent most of this week glued to my desk or laptop trying to prep for this weekend's vacation, but I still wanted to share a few things worth noting from the past couple weeks! I'm excited to be sharing a couple upcoming posts on my favorite Summer books and beauty products soon -- so stay tuned!Read More
As my friends will tell you, I love a good watch. Delicate, large, metal, leather, you name it. Give me a simple, practical accessory that's also cute and I'm a happy gal. Thus, I was oh-so-excited to be introduced to Jord watches. Their design is really unique and different from anything I've previously owned. With intricate wood detailing but light-weight movement, it's easily become a staple in my watch wearing rotation and I can't get enough!
Jord Watches are self-described as "hand-crafted wooden time pieces"; they make a unique statement on your wrist that feels equally modern and classic.
So, to share the love, I've teamed up with Jord to give you a chance to win a $100 gift card towards a watch! Entering is super easy, PLUS just entering will automatically get you a $25 credit to JORD via an e-gift card at the end of the contest. Win-win.

Whenever the promise of a three day weekend lies ahead, I like to schedule a road trip to pursue that extra long weekend bliss. This past weekend, I took a scenic drive up the Pacific Northwest to the rainy city of Seattle (lucky for me the weather was GORGEOUS) to explore the city, attend a concert and make some of my favorite stops in Oregon along the way!
While this wasn't my first trip to Seattle, it was my first time checking off the major touristy things and they were all totally worth it! From the Space Needle to the Underground Seattle Tour, it was so much fun getting to learn about Seattle's history and landmarks. In between exploring and eating at local recommendations, it made for such a lovely weekend. Bonus: I highly recommend going into the city during a long weekend because so many residents leave! All of the usual traffic and wait times were basically gone. One last thing to note: I especially recommend the Chihuly Garden and Glass Museum -- it was incredible to explore all of these creative glass installations, plus it gives you a gorgeous view of the Space Needle, which is next to lots of interesting areas to wander to.
Here's a quick little video of the trip!
Have you been to Seattle? What are some of your favorite things to explore?
I always admire women who rock chunky jewelry or generally giant accessories, but that's not my everyday jam. I prefer to drape on a few minimalist pieces instead, e.g. thin gold rings and delicate necklaces! So, one night I was browsing Amazon (as my account will show I do all too often) and found this Mini Moons Phase necklace that was dreamy and totally affordable. That necklace introduced me to a brand I am completely smitten with called HONEYCAT, started by two rad gals in California. Below are some of my favorite pieces -- and my collection just keeps growing, because... I mean, look at them!Read More
Oh, Napa. There's much to love, what with its acres of rolling grape vines and seemingly endless supply of fine wine and soft cheeses. Somehow despite being born in California (and residing in Northern California for most my life), I've yet to make the journey out to wine country -- until last weekend that is! While the weekend went by fairly quick, I'm already itching to plan another wine country trip (next time: Sonoma!) because it was a perfect mix of relaxation and exploration. I shared a video of my trip earlier, but wanted to break down some of my favorite stops I made while venturing around:
Oxbow Public Market
This lovely market is open 7 days a week and is a mecca for great food and local shopping. I especially loved that they had bikes for rent outside! Plus, it's just a quick cross on a bridge to old town, making it an easy area for exploration. I visited Oxbow Public Market twice on my trip, filling up on Ritual coffee and breakfast tacos from Casa, while snagging a new book and a couple unique culinary delights. From produce to gifts to beer and wine, they've got a little bit of everything to enjoy. Highly recommend at least a pit stop here during Napa to get a taste of some local items to bring back home with you.Read More
