Worth Noting: 12.16.16

In the spirit of savoring the little things, I’ll be sharing a few things “worth noting” to me every Friday. I love sharing a great book, show, product or even just a memorable moment from the week. "The little things? The little moments? They aren't little." - Jon Kabat Zinn.

The end of the year is buzzing by as it always seems to do, but I'm still trying to squeeze in a few festive activities before the year ends. I'm still looking forward to finishing a couple books before the new year and spending some extra time with family despite all the extra projects and to do lists. So, I'll keep it short and sweet this week! Here are some of my favorite things worth noting from the past week(ish).

DIY Chai Workshop

Chico Chai hosted a DIY Chai workshop and it was SO much fun! It rekindled my love for Chai after starting this year in India and I've now back to making chai just about every day. Sarah, the owner, walked a small group of us through history, blending and preparing of chai while we played with our hands and sealed our own chai blend batches into tins. My chai obsession is now back in full swing!

Book Club

Earlier this week my coworkers and I had our first book club meeting. We read Milk and Honey (a feminist poetry book that's equal parts beautiful, intense and simple) and had lovely conversation over wine and festive snacks. Our next book: The Last Season; an adventurous story about an expert ranger who mysteriously disappears into the Sierra Nevada mountains. Can't wait to dig into it!

Tuesdays Together Meetup

I try to stop by my local Tuesdays Together chapter whenever I can and this past meet up was centered on rest and relaxation -- something that's certainly appropriate and sorely overlooked during the holiday season. It was nice to break up my usual weekday routine with a long lunch and a reminder of the importance of practicing self-care. Plus, how cute is the home of TRÉ CREATIVE duo Chelsey and Stephen? Love.

READ: TEEN VOGUE

I'll admit that Teen Vogue hasn't been on my radar since my early college days, but props are due because they are practicing really good journalism. I read through several of their pieces that have been getting attention lately and my heart swelled to know that a major women's magazine is doing damn good work to build up other young women (and mix in eyeshadow tips, because obviously women are complex). Happily following them on social media to keep up with the pieces young women are writing and hope you take a peek at them as well.

This weekend I'm headed to a small town to find a little Christmas cheer -- follow along on Snapchat for the festivities: @northern_daisy. Wishing you all a lovely and relaxing weekend!
